With just a few days left in 2017, you may be staring at a mostly blank content calendar for 2018. You understand the importance of blogging regularly, but you can’t seem to come up with one new idea to make your post stand out from the crowd. In this post, we will explore four content generation tools that you can use in the new year and beyond.

Blog Ideas Generator from HubSpot

If you can come up with three nouns, HubSpot can give you a list of five titles for possible blog posts within a few seconds. I tested this out myself by entering dog, cat, and winter. A few seconds later, HubSpot gave me this list of potential blog topics and titles:

  • Why We Love Dogs (And You Should, Too!)
  • 10 Quick Tips About Cats
  • 5 Tools Everyone in the Winter Industry Should Use
  • 10 Signs Your Dog Needs You to Spend More Time with Him
  • 20 Myths About Cats

See how easy that was? If you don’t like the original list, just hit the Try Again button for five more suggestions or enter a new set of three nouns.

Content Idea Generator from Portent

This one is even simpler than HubSpot. You just need to enter a single word, or two words in my case, about your topic to get an instant idea. After entering new year, Portent gave me the idea to title my blog “19 Freaky Reasons New Year’s Could Get You Fired.” Now there’s something I would have never thought of on my own! For the best results, Portent recommends that you do the following:

  • Enter only the singular version of your keyword
  • Enter the keyword in lower case unless it’s a proper noun
  • Understand that the title may come back grammatically incorrect and you may need to revise it

Portent even provides additional resources to help fill out your content on its front page.

Buzzsumo

Buzzsumo is a bit different in that it shows you current titles that exist about your topic as well as provides you with suggestions of your own. You can filter the results ranging from the past 24 hours to five years ago. To see how this idea generator worked, I entered the term turning 50 since I hit that milestone in the new year. The results showed me which posts people shared the most in the past year with either word in them. That made me realize I needed to tweak my input a bit to get results more relevant to birthdays than lists with 50 things in them.

Get Pages of Results with ContentIdeator

While other sites provide one to five ideas for blog topics, you could easily get four pages from ContentIdeator. However, they may not be all that relevant once you go through the first few pages. The site also claims to crawl millions of blogs to provide you with the most relevant results for your industry.

Perhaps you’re thinking these are cool tools and all, but you still don’t have the time to use them. That’s no problem when you ask a writer from Content Runner to come up with blog topics and titles for you. We leave our clients and writers to work out their own details for every project. If you need help setting up an order to include blog idea generation, just contact us. We’re here to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible from the time you place your order until you decide to accept the writer’s work.
